The Homestead

A tall, fair skinned brunette stands in golden light looking affectionately at a rooster in her arms.
YAKS

We are proud to have five North American Heritage yaks at Waymeet. Their line was brought to Canada from Mongolia in the late 1800’s. They are currently genetically closer to the ancient wild-type yaks than most domestic yaks in Mongolia today.

CHICKENS

We boast the friendliest chickens in town! Our flocks are free range and socialized to humans. We originally got chickens to be an egg source for our community and fell in love with breeding heritage chickens. We sell chicks and hatching eggs in the warmer months.

Two dark haired women, a dark haired man, and a young dark haired boy all smile as they sport their white bee suits complete with netted hats and heavy duty gloves.
BEES

Bees are the worldwide source of 80% of all pollination, and our bees are doing their part! Bees are unique in their domestication in that they are one of the only creatures kept by humans that can choose to leave if they want. We are lucky that these choose to stay and contribute to the health of our farm.

GARDEN & ORCHARD

Waymeet is situated on a very old apple orchard that we continue to work to restore. Among the abundance of apples on the property, we have cultivated a large garden of seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers that help nourish our community.
