ABOUT THE FLOCKS
We originally got chickens to be a source of eggs for our community. We quickly realized how much we love breeding heritage chickens. Our chickens are free range and socialized to humans of all ages. Our chicks and hatching eggs are available for purchase during the warmer months (April to September).
OUR BREEDS
VORWERK
Vorwerk chickens are friendly and relatively calm birds. They are easily handled and tamed compared to most breeds. Powerful in build and compact by nature, they have broad backs, deep and rounded breasts, and lusciously feathered faces. They have medium sized, bright red single combs atop their broad heads. Vorwerk chickens can serve multiple purposes on the farm and are known to be flexible in handling different environments well. They are cold hardy creatures that continue to lay in the winter months.

OPAL LEGBAR
Beautiful tones of blue, lavender, and gold adorn the silver and gray barring pattern on Opal Legbar chickens. They are crested and have a single bright red comb. Known for producing stunning sky blue eggs, these chickens lay about three to five times per week. They are easygoing and social creatures that are historically good foragers and enthusiastic insect hunters. They are great for small farms and homesteading spaces. These chickens are also cold hardy and tolerate heat well.

CREAM LEGBAR
As one of the best breeds for free ranging, Cream Legbars are known to be fantastic foragers and hunters. They have a more triangular shape with flat backs and sport a sassy tuft of feathers on their heads. They are generally regarded as friendly and quiet birds. Cream Legbars are also famous for their light blue and light green colored eggs. They lay up to four times a week, producing between 150-200 eggs per year. Though egg production slows in the cold months, these birds are extremely hard birds that handle all weather climates incredibly well.
